ABOUT US
PerfectWoodworking.com brings you the best in woodcraft articles and reviews on woodworking tools. We do not sell woodworking tools directly because we wish to remain impartial in our reviews. We do, however, accept advertising from woodcraft suppliers. Think of us as a online woodworking magazine.
Bob Gillespie, who writes many of the woodworking reviews and woodcraft articles for us, is a professional cabinetmaker specializing in originally-designed fine hardwood furniture. He has been perfecting his knowlege of woodcraft and woodworking tools since the early 1980's. His company has produced numerous built-in and free-standing furniture designs constructed from solid hardwoods including Hawaiian Koa, White Oak, Black Walnut and many other wood species. Bob founded Craftsman Woodworking, LTD in Honolulu in 1981 and simultaneously opened a full-service woodworking and furniture manufacturing shop in Honolulu, Hawaii. His company employed, on average, about 7 woodworkers using a wide variety of woodworking tools. The fine woodcraft articles produced there included both custom furniture and built-in cabinets as well as a standard line of home and office furniture. Bob has been engaged in fine woodworking ever since and now wishes to share his woodcraft experience and experience with woodworking tools to the benefit of other woodworkers.
PerfectWoodworking.com makes it our business to stay in touch with the latest developments in woodworking hand tools, hand-held woodworking tools and stationary woodworking machinery. We are constantly drawing on our woodcraft experience to translate the capabilities of the woodworking tools we review and use into new and better woodworking techniques that save you time, eliminate difficulties and improve your accuracy. We know that the most expensive woodworking tools are not always the best tools for you and your situation. A 48” wide belt sander, while inappropriate for a home woodcraft shop, may be essential for a large furniture manufacturer. A 24” drum sander may do the job in a home woodcraft shop but be too small and inefficient for corporate woodworking use. We review woodworking machines and woodcraft tools at both ends of the spectrum, educate you as to their possible uses and then let you decide what’s right for you.
In professional woodworking, as in any business, time is money and efficiency and end-product quality are everything. While we greatly admire the skills of old school woodworking craftsmen, we know that, in today’s world, competition compels us to produce high quality, finished woodworking products in the most efficient and accurate manner possible. Today’s arsenal of powerful, accurate and well-designed woodcraft tools and woodworking machinery allows us to compete and profit while being proud of our work. We want to assist you in finding the best woodcraft tools and the best ways to utilize the woodworking machinery that is currently available.
